FLOOD RAVAGES MIDNAPORE

Midnapore,
July 20 : Floods ravaged large areas of Midnapore causing loss to life and
property and disrupting normal life. The incessant rain over the past few days
has inundated several villages in Midnapore. Several rivers like Shilabati,
Rupnarayan and Keleghai have been overflowed by the heavy downpour. Many
villages under Sabang, Ghatal, Egra and other sub-divisions have been completely
flooded. More than a lakh of people have been left homeless. Mud houses swept
away and standing crops of several lakhs of rupees have been lost in the
districts. Communication has been cut off at several places. Rescue operation
has already started on war footing. Many have been sheltered in high roads and
high school buildings. Packets of dry food, pouches of water and medicines are
being air-dropped from helicopters in the flood-affected areas. In the
meanwhile the Chief Minister Mrs. Mamata Banerjee has convened a meeting in
Nabanna with the State Home Secretary to review the latest situation in the
flood-hit district. A compensation of Rs. 10000/- for those who have lost their
houses totally and Rs. 5000/- for those who have got their houses partly
damaged has been announced.

Imagine
that you and your friend are sailors of two ships that have recently returned
from their voyages. Write a dialogue within 100 words on the different
experiences of your voyages.
I : Hello, Prokash,
How are you?
Prokash : I am fine.
What about you?
I : I am also
fine. When did you return from your voyage?
Prokash : I have returned
just two days ago.
I : Where did
you go this time?
Prokash : This time I went
to Singapore with my ship ‘The Vikrant’.
I : Really! Me
too. I went to Thiland as a sailor this time.
Prokash : How was your
trip?
I : Fine. The
weather was very pleasant.
Prokash : But we had
to face a tempest. My ship was going to be wrecked. Thank God! We returned
safely this time.
I : Don’t worry.
God is always with us. He will save us from danger.
Prokash : Hm. You are right. Hope to meet you again soon. Good bye, now.
