The Text
 
Give to me the life I love,
দাও আমাকে সেই জীবন যা আমি ভালবাসি,
 
Let the lave go by me,
ছোট নদীকে আমার পাশ দিয়ে বইতে দাও
 
Give the jolly heaven above
মাথার ওপরে দাও আনন্দমুখর আকাশ
 
And the byway nigh me.
আর দাও আমার পাশে এক নিরালা পথ ।
 
Bed in the bush with stars to see,
ঝোপের মধ্যে হোক বিছানা দেখতে পারি তারা
 
Bread I dip in the river -
নদীর জলে ডুবিয়ে নেবো রুটি -
 
There’s the life for a man like me,
আমার মত মানুষের জন্য এমনই এক জীবন,
 
There’s the life for ever.
চিরকালের জন্য এটাই জীবন।
 
Let the blow fall soon or late,
শীঘ্র বা দেরিতে আঘাত আসুক নেমে,
 
Let what will be o’er me;
যা হবার হোক, আমার ওপরে;
 
Give the face of earth around
চারিধারে দাও পৃথিবীর মুখ
 
And the road before me.
আর দাও চলার মত পথ, আমার সম্মুখে।
 
Wealth I seek not, hope nor love,
আমি সম্পদ চাই না, চাই না আশা বা ভালোবাসা,
 
Nor a friend to know me;
চাই না কোনো বন্ধু, আমার চেনাশোনা;
 
All I seek, the heaven above
আমি শুধু চাই, মাথার ওপর আকাশ
 
And the road below me.
আর পায়ের নিচে চলার পথ।
 
Or let autumn fall on me
হেমন্ত আসুক নেমে আমার ওপর
 
Where afield I linger,
যেখানে মাঠের মধ্যে আমি কিছু সময় কাটাবো,
 
Silencing the bird on tree,
গাছের পাখিদের চুপ করিয়ে দিয়ে,
 
Biting the blue finger.
নীল আঙুল কামড়াতে কামড়াতে।
 
White as meal the frosty field –
তুষারঢাকা মাঠ শস্যদানার মতো সাদা–
 
Warm the fireside haven –
উষ্ণ নিরাপদ স্থান আগুনের পাশে -
 
Not to autumn will I yield,
হেমন্তের কাছে আমি মানবো না হার,
 
Not to winter even!
হারব না আমি শীতের কাছেও।
