Activity 16

Write a story [in about 80 words] using the following points. Give a title to the story:

(A hare challenges a tortoise to a race – the race starts – hare takes rest on the way – falls asleep – the tortoise reaches the goal first.)

The Hare and the Tortoise

Once a hare and tortoise lived in a forest. The hare was very proud of his fast speed. He made fun of the tortoise for his slow speed. The hare challenged the tortoise in a race with him. The hare accepted the challenge. The race started on the next morning. The hare ran very fast. The tortoise was left far behind. The hare stopped to rest under a tree. He fell asleep. The tortoise passed him and reached the winning post first. The hare woke up and ran as fast as he could. He saw that the tortoise was already at the winning post. He lost the race.

Moral: Slow and steady wins the race.

Dear Prokash,
At first, take my cordial love. Hope you are well by the grace of God. I am also well. Today I am writing this letter to tell you about my experience of visiting a zoo.

Last December I along with my parents went to Alipore Zoo. After buying tickets we entered the zoo. At first, we saw a chimpanzee who welcomed us with his bare teeth. Then we saw different types of birds like peacocks, robins, parrots, parakeets, ostriches etc. in the bird zone and crocodiles, snakes, and lizards in the reptile zone. We saw zebras, deer, leopards, monkeys, tigers, lions, elephants and many animals. Though it is an incredible experience, my heart became heavy for the caged animals. If we humans are kept in a cage like them, would we be happy? Never! I wish these beautiful creatures should be kept in a reserve forest, not in these cages. What you think about this? Share your thoughts with me!

I have taken many photos there which I will show you the next time we meet. Till then, take care and give my regards to your parents.

                                                                                                                       Your loving friend,
                                                                                                                                 Toton
