Ans: The girl lived with her mother.

Ans: The girl says that among her living brothers and sisters, two live at Conway and two have gone to sea.
 
(d) Why does the girl say, “We are seven”?
Ans: The girl is very simple and innocent. She can’t realise what death is. Though her two brothers and a sister are dead, this makes her no difference in counting.
