Activity 10 (a)

Imagine you are out on the open sea in a boat with waves rising all around you. Would you feel scared or excited? Write a paragraph in about eighty words describing your experience of the sea voyage. 

An Exciting Sea Voyage 

Like John I also yearned for the sea voyage. Last year I got an opportunity to experience the sea. We were going to the Andamans. The sea was calm and quiet when we started. (I was enjoying the beauty of nature.) But soon the weather took an unexpected turn. The sea became billowy (উত্তাল). A terrible tempest began to toss our ship. Turbulent / Huge waves rose as if to devour our boat. (The situation became bad to worse.) We were very much tensed and scared. I prayed to the Almighty to save us. At last the weather became favourable. Our ship overcame the obstacles and we reached the shore. During the journey the famous lines of Coleridge came into my mind “Water, water everywhere / Not a drop to drink.”

 

Activity 10 (b)

Suppose you had wished to perform on stage for a long time. On the occasion of your school’s annual function, you finally got a chance to do so. Write a letter to your friend describing how you felt when your wish was fulfilled.

Dear Mou,

I cannot express how happy I am today. You know I have a long cherished desire/dream to participate in the district level Long Jump tournament. Today, I have been selected to represent our school in the district level tournament. (I am clueless which words of mine would convey my feelings better.) Now I am not only happy but also under pressure as I am shouldering a great responsibility of my school’s reputation. I don't know if I would rank first in the event but I promise I would try to live up to the expectation. My game teacher also encourages me. I hope your best wishes are with me. Thank you.
