Activity 13 (a)
You have just finished reading a beautiful
story. Write a story in about seventy words with the help of the points given
below. Give a title to your story:
(Merchant --- going home through forest --- has bag full of money --- rain
falls --- gets wet --- curses the rain --- a robber comes --- points gun at the
merchant --- shoots --- unhurt --- wet gunpowder --- merchant thanks God for
rain.)
The Merchant and the Robber
Once a rich merchant
was returning home through a forest with a bag full of money. Suddenly it
started raining heavily. He found no shelter and thus he as well as his money
got wet. Being angry, he cursed God for the untimely rain. Suddenly, a robber
appeared, pointing a loaded pistol at him, demanding his life and money. Being
terrified, the merchant started running. The robber chased him and pulled the
trigger, but the pistol jammed and did not go off as the gun powder became dam
in rain. In the meantime the merchant managed to escape unhurt. Then he
realised his fault and thanked God for saving his life in disguise of rain.
Moral: Whatever
happens, happens for good. / Sometimes good comes out of bad. / God is always
with us.
Activity 13 (b)
Describe in a short paragraph (within 80
words) about your experience of visiting a garden of flowers. You may use the
following clues:
(its location --- objects seen there --- types of flowers --- its effect
on you --- the beautiful memory that will always linger in your mind)
A Visit to a Flower Garden
A visit to a flower
garden is quite refreshing and educative. It is a paradise on the earth. Recently I with my parents visited a garden of
flowers in the heart of our town. (The garden acted as the lung of the city and
a boon to the people residing around it.) After entering the garden, we saw everywhere
there were flowers and flowers. The green verdure and the multi-coloured flower
beds of marigold, dalia, sunflower, rose were a paradise to the eyes. The air in
the garden smelt of sweet perfume which refreshed my mind and purified my
heart. I became spellbound. I had to leave the paradise on the earth (the
garden), still I can see them by closing my eyes.
