Activity 8 (a)
Write a
story in about eight words using the following hints:
A king, proud of his
power – tells he can control everything on earth – takes his courtiers to the
sea shore – orders the waves to move back – the waves lash at the feet of the
king – the king moves back in fear
False Pride / The Sea and A Proud
King
Once there was a king
who was very proud of his power. One day he said to his courtiers, “I am all in
all on the earth. So I can control everything on the earth. Even I can make
nature obey me.” But some of his courtiers expressed their doubts on him. So,
to prove him, he took them to the sea-shore and said to the waves, “I am your
master. Don't come near us. Move back.” But the waves lashed at the feet of the
king again and again. The king moved back in fear and felt shame for his own
folly. (And he learnt a lesson that nature is more powerful than men.)
Moral : Pride comes
before a fall.

Dear Bappa,
How are you? You have not written anything for a pretty long time about your health and study. What’s the matter with you?
I am deeply shocked to
learn from Mother that you feel pleasure in torturing the meek animals. This is
not good. Though we are superior beings, we should not act cruelly to others.
Just imagine, how they cry in pain when you beat them. Does it make any sense?
God has created all of us. So in beating them, you are actually hurting God. If
you love them little, you will get enormous love in return. I hope you will
change your attitude.
No more today. Take care of
yourself and be good to animals.
Yours
ever,
Baban
